Santa's Xmas Eve helpers
I think there was too much Xmas cheer
And them too
A relaxing Christmas Day in the park at Nai Harn on Phuket Island
The "Beach Bunnies" Lucy and Maureen strutting their stuff
A mindless card day for the girls - I wonder where the boys are!!
Cosmetic work for Two Up - New Name Plate in teak and ash
Noon and friend hard at work with the step edgings
Been taken for a "ride" - need to be aware of the very suttle scams that abound
45 metres of reclining Buddha - the biggest and the best - part of Wat Pho in Bangkok
The intricate mosaics decorate the Chedis of the Grand Palace
Gold Leaf Buddha - sad that the people are begging on the streets
The Grand Palace
The Kings residence on special occassions within the Grand Palace walls
This was our Grand Palace for our stay in Bangkok
The Bridge over the River Kwai - this iron bridge was dismantled in Java Indonesia and reassembled here by the POW's
Ironic - the bridge is maintained by a Japanese company
This is part of the 415 km of the Thai Burma death railway called the "Viaduct" and is still in use
Hellfire Pass
Hellfire Pass cutting - 450 metres long and 25m deep in places and this was completed by hand in 6 weeks. We found it a very moving visit.
These wagons carried 28 POW's from Singapore to Kanchanaburi. A 4 day trip without food and water
One of the many types of "Tuk Tuk"
Another type of Tuk Tuk
Ayutthya was the capital of Thailand until 1767. During the period from 1200 until 1767, Many palaces and temples were built
These temples were ransached and burnt by the invading Burmase during the 1300's
Elephant KRAAL - use to round up the wild elephants
The Elephant Kraal is still used today
The bloody Burmese fighters are too good for me
The war machine of the 1300's
What do you say about this !!! Cocka doodle dooo
The ruins are truly magnificent
Nature tries to reclaim the area
It must have been spectacular
